Brakes & Rotors
Pads, rotors, calipers, hydraulics and brake fluid service.
Brake work starts with measurement, not assumption. We measure remaining pad thickness and rotor thickness against the manufacturer minimum, check for runout and uneven wear, and inspect the calipers, hoses and hydraulics before quoting anything.
Noise, pulsation and a soft pedal are three different problems with three different causes. A grinding noise usually means the pads are gone. A pulsating pedal usually means rotor thickness variation. A soft or sinking pedal points at the hydraulic side and should be looked at immediately.
We fit quality friction material matched to how the car is actually driven, and we replace rotors rather than putting new pads against a worn surface.
Signs to watch for
- Squealing that stops when you brake — that is the wear indicator doing its job
- Grinding or a metallic scrape — stop driving and call us
- Steering wheel or brake pedal that pulsates when slowing from speed
- Pedal that sinks slowly toward the floor when held at a light
- The car pulling to one side under braking
When to have it done
- Inspected at every oil change — it takes minutes
- Pads typically last 30,000 to 70,000 miles depending on driving
- Immediately if you hear grinding or the pedal feels soft
- Brake fluid tested every two to three years
What K&K does
- Measure pad and rotor thickness against factory minimum specification
- Inspect calipers, slide pins, hoses and the hydraulic system
- Test brake fluid for moisture content
- Service the hardware and lubricate slides so the new pads wear evenly
- Road test every brake job before it leaves
