Tires
Sales, mounting, balancing, rotation, repair and TPMS service.
We stock and order all major brands, and we will tell you honestly where the money is worth spending and where it is not. The right tire depends on how many miles you drive, whether the car sees winter weather, and what you actually want out of it — quiet ride, long tread life, or grip.
Every tire we fit is balanced and torqued to specification. We service TPMS sensors at the same time so the dashboard light does not come back on a week later.
Flat repairs are done from the inside with a patch-plug where that is the right approach, and with a standard external plug where that is appropriate. Which repair a tire can take depends on where the puncture sits, and we check that before doing the work.
Signs to watch for
- Tread worn to the wear bars, or below 4/32 of an inch heading into winter
- Vibration through the wheel or seat that appears at a specific speed
- A tire that needs air more often than the others
- Uneven wear across the tread — usually an alignment or suspension issue
- Cracking in the sidewall, or tires more than six years old
When to have it done
- Rotate every 5,000 to 7,500 miles, usually with an oil change
- Check pressures monthly and before long trips
- Replace at 2/32 of an inch by law, though grip falls off well before that
- Consider age as well as tread — rubber hardens after about six years
